Expert Witness for Massage Industry

 

 

Acted as qualified expert in case against Los Angeles Day Spa on behalf of the prosecution.  The case involved a male therapist accused of performing inappropriate sexual conduct to a female client, paralyzed from the waist down.

Responsibilities included:

    Reading testimonies and depositions of all parties involved o       Offering my opinion as to the liability of the spa based on two factors:

  • Was the therapist an employee?

  • Did they establish a policy regarding inappropriate sexual contact? o          Being deposed by opposing counsel o    On stand-by for court testimony

Case settled out of court

 

 

Acted as qualified expert in case against Los Angeles Shiatsu business on behalf of the defense.  Case involved a female therapist performing Ashiatsu (walking shiatsu) on a male client.  Client claimed therapist injured his back.

Responsibilities included:

  • Reading testimonies and depositions of all involved parties

  • Offering my opinion as to the appropriate behavior of the therapist in regards to asking proper questions and keeping appropriate records Case was dropped

 

Acted as qualified expert in case Basi v. Island Foot Spa, et al, April 2013.  Case involved a male therapist accused of performing inappropriate sexual conduct to a female client in a foot reflexology spa.

Responsibilities included:

o Reading deposition of Plaintiff o Watching surveillance footage

Charges dropped

 

Instruction and Curriculum Development

  • Certified Instructor by California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) o       Certificate Number:  COAFS – 05-379709

  • Instructed over 1,000 students with varying backgrounds and educational levels in several techniques and procedures for Massage Therapy, Acupressure and more

 

  • Assessed needs of Regional Reservations Sales Agents and created training material to ensure levels of performance are maintained

  • Conducted ergonomic training to employees to reduce number of Repetitive Motion Injuries; courses included massage, self-massage, exercise, body awareness and more.

  • Developed and Presented Train-the-trainer sessions to Training Supervisors and Managers in all Worldwide Reservation Sales Offices

  • Developed Skills Training Courses in “Effective Resume Writing” and “Interviewing Skills”

 

Key Success:  Developed Training for Marriott Worldwide Reservations using Criteria Referenced Instruction (CRI) process; currently used in Worldwide Reservation Centers throughout the world.

  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, suspensions and terminations of employees  Conducted new-hire orientation

  • Completed weekly payroll for 300 associates

Key Success:  Created computer tracking system for hiring and turnover statistics for 310 room hotel
